CleanWorthy is a UK-based cleaning directory. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What we collect and why

If you search for a cleaner

We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal data to search the directory. If you use the contact form on a cleaner's profile, we collect your name, email address and message so that we can forward it to the cleaner. The lawful basis is legitimate interest.

If you list your business

We collect your name, email address, phone number and business details to create and display your listing. For verification we collect a copy of your photo ID and insurance certificate. The lawful basis is contract (you are signing up to a service) and legitimate interest (we display your business information to potential customers).

Verification documents

Photo ID and insurance certificates are stored securely outside the public web root and are only accessed by authorised staff for the purpose of verification. Photo ID is used solely to confirm your identity and is not displayed publicly. Insurance certificates are checked for validity and expiry date. We retain these documents for the duration of your listing plus 12 months.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies for session management and login. If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site. Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via the cookie banner. You can change your preference at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share data with Google (Analytics, if consented), our hosting provider (Namecheap) for infrastructure, and Cloudflare for security and performance. Contact form messages are shared with the listed business you are contacting.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

Account and listing data is retained for the duration of your listing. Contact form messages are retained for 12 months. Verification documents are retained for the duration of your listing plus 12 months, then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention settings.
